We are proud to be an authorised sales and service agent for Honda Marine and Tohatsu Outboards in the Solent region.

Located on the banks of the River Hamble in Southampton, our workshops offer convenient access by both road and water, making us ideally positioned for all your outboard servicing and repair requirements. We are committed to delivering high-quality workmanship and reliable customer service, and our experienced technicians are able to work on most makes of outboard engine. 

We have an on-site slipway and trailers available, providing easy and excellent value haul-out services. While your engine is being serviced or repaired, we can also carry out hull washing and antifouling to maximise efficiency and minimise downtime. In addition to our workshop facilities, we offer mobile outboard servicing covering Solent based Marinas including Hamble Dry Stack, HYS, Universal Marina, Premier Swanwick, Gosport, Saxon Wharf and Southampton Dry Stack.

Not only are we main agents for Honda Marine and Tohatsu outboards, we also service Suzuki, Yamaha, Mercury and Mariner outboards. We use genuine OEM parts and have advanced diagnostic software to ensure every engine receives a thorough, professional and dependable service.

Commercial Outboard Engine Servicing and Service Agreements

Rib Shop provides professional commercial outboard engine servicing, along with tailored service agreements designed to support a wide range of organisations, including sailing clubs, universities, port operators and Government agencies.

We offer annual servicing programmes backed by reliable technical support, helping to minimise downtime and ensure operational continuity. Where required, our mobile service vehicles are available to provide on-site assistance, keeping your vessels operational when it matters most. 

All service plans are fully tailored to your requirements and can include 24hr assistance, a dedicated point of contact to manage all aspects of your support package, and flexible payment options designed to align with your operational needs and annual budget.

When and how often should I have my outboard engine serviced?

You should always refer to your manufacturer’s handbook for recommended service periods, however generally you should have your outboard serviced as follows:

1st service: after a running time of 10 – 20 hours.

Every 100hrs or annually: You should have your outboard engine serviced at least once a year to protect against corrosion and salt build up as well as replacing wear and tear parts. This will prolong its life and ensure reliable running through the season.

End of season service At the end of the season your engine should be winterised. This is where the engine is flushed through and inhibited to prevent seizing over winter. This will help keep the engine in tip top condition for the year to come.
